Context:
UOL is one of Brazil’s largest digital media outlets. In 2018, Brazil held one of its most critical general elections, with millions following updates in real-time. The app needed to support fast, trustworthy coverage while offering a more flexible and accessible user experience.

Project Overview

Objective:

  • Evolving and modernising the UOL Notícias app between 2016 and 2019

  • Key contributions during the 2018 Brazilian general elections.

  • Improving accessibility and visual clarity

  • User engagement, including the design of a new homepage customization feature and a complete icon redesign.

My Role:

  • Led the full redesign of the app’s elections experience.

  • Created and implemented the “Edit Home” functionality.

  • Designed the complete icon set and ensured it followed accessibility and scalability best practices.

  • Worked directly with developers to test screen reader compatibility.
